Teledyne FLIR OEM won a U.S. Army DUTCH award to develop next-gen uncooled thermal imaging tech for drones and defense systems.

Teledyne FLIR OEM has been selected to support the U.S. Army's Delivering Unmatched Thermal Capability Hastened (DUTCH) initiative. The program aims to advance next-generation uncooled thermal imaging for defense uses, including unmanned aerial systems.
The initiative is led by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Critical Technologies and the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command C5ISR Center. According to the company, the work will focus on improving sensor performance while reducing size, weight, power, and cost.
Advancing Uncooled Thermal Technology
Under the award, Teledyne FLIR OEM will continue developing uncooled thermal imaging technologies. The effort aligns with U.S. Army modernization priorities. It builds on the company's investments in small-pixel-pitch uncooled thermal architectures.
The technology is intended for integration across various defense missions. These include uncrewed aerial systems, loitering munitions, thermal binoculars, and weapons sights. The program also targets scaling the technology for high-volume manufacturing to support future defense programs.
DUTCH Program Objectives

The company's participation is intended to support a scalable domestic supply base for infrared components. The award will support continued development as Teledyne FLIR works with the U.S. Army on next-generation uncooled infrared sensing for UAS and other applications.
