uAvionix, Airwise integrate drone tracking

uAvionix and Airwise Solutions have integrated real-time aircraft surveillance data into the Airwise enterprise drone platform. The collaboration, announced on August 21, 2026, is designed to make beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone operations safer by providing operators with a clearer picture of nearby crewed aircraft.

At the core of the integration is uAvionix's FlightLine surveillance service. This nationwide system collects Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) data across both 978 MHz and 1090 MHz frequencies. It detects cooperative aircraft flying at very low altitudes.

Integrated Platform Benefits

Instead of forcing organizations to install their own ground sensors, FlightLine delivers surveillance data directly into the Airwise platform through a secure application programming interface (API). This eliminates the need for additional infrastructure.

The companies state the integration offers several advantages. Operators gain continuous visibility into cooperative aircraft sharing their airspace, which improves situational awareness. Low-latency traffic updates can support faster decision-making and help prevent conflicts between drones and crewed aircraft.

The platform also provides real-time monitoring of the health and data quality of the FlightStation sensor network. This gives operators confidence in the reliability of the information. Because the system is pre-integrated, organizations can deploy uncrewed traffic management (UTM) capabilities more quickly.

Thomas Jimenez, vice president of Uncrewed Systems at uAvionix, called reliable surveillance data the cornerstone of scalable autonomous aviation. "By integrating FlightLine directly into the Airwise platform and Nexus COP, we are eliminating the burden of local sensor deployment while providing operators with trusted, FAA-grade airspace traffic data right out of the box," Jimenez explained.

John Powers, chief revenue officer at Airwise Solutions, stressed that the industry is moving beyond standalone software tools. "As drone operations continue to grow in complexity, operators need more than individual software tools; they need trusted data delivered within a unified operational environment," Powers said. He added that combining uAvionix's surveillance with Airwise's software gives organizations the confidence to safely expand advanced operations.

Deployment and Availability

The partnership is being rolled out through the Skyway Range, a 1,200-square-mile BVLOS flight test range based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This range supports industry, government, and academic organizations developing next-generation autonomous aviation technologies.

The integrated FlightLine capability is available immediately for Skyway Range participants and enterprise customers using the Airwise platform and Nexus common operating picture. The move is designed to provide the real-time airspace intelligence needed for increasingly complex commercial drone missions as the industry pushes toward routine BVLOS operations.
