TEKEVER buys Flowcopter for drone propulsion
European drone company TEKEVER bought Scottish firm Flowcopter to use its hydraulic tech for building long-range drones for logistics and rescue.

TEKEVER, Europe's leading provider of AI-driven autonomous systems, has acquired the Edinburgh-based engineering company Flowcopter. The deal, announced today, is centered on Flowcopter's innovative hydraulic transmission technology for aerospace propulsion, which enables unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to carry heavier payloads over greater distances than conventional platforms.
The acquisition aims to accelerate the development of long-endurance, heavy-lift aerial platforms for applications such as forward logistics, casualty evacuation, offshore operations, SAR (search and rescue) and disaster relief, while also supporting advanced concepts such as crewed-uncrewed teaming. It marks a significant step in TEKEVER's continued expansion in the UK and its strategy to expand its portfolio of advanced autonomous systems across Europe.
Expanding UK Presence and Capabilities
Acquiring Flowcopter adds Edinburgh to TEKEVER's growing UK presence, further strengthening its nationwide network of engineering, manufacturing, testing and operational facilities. TEKEVER now employs more than 300 people across the UK, with existing offices, factories and test facilities in London, Bristol, Southampton, West Wales, Lydd and Swindon. The acquisition is part of TEKEVER's long-term, £400 million investment programme, named OVERMATCH, which aims to expand sovereign autonomy capabilities in the UK.
Ricardo Mendes, TEKEVER CEO, said: "Flowcopter has built an outstanding reputation for engineering innovation and has developed truly differentiated technology."
The AR6 Platform and Technical Specs
The two companies have already established a strong collaborative relationship through the development of TEKEVER's AR6 family of systems. The first platform in the family, unveiled at the Farnborough International Airshow in July, incorporates Flowcopter's novel hydraulic transmission technology, delivering exceptional payload capacity and operational endurance.
The source provides a specific performance claim for this platform, which can be presented in a comparative table format.
| Capability | Specification |
|---|---|
| Payload Capacity | At least 200 kg |
| Operational Range | 500 km |
Strategic Vision and Future Applications
TEKEVER believes the combination of its proven autonomous intelligence, mission systems, and operational experience with Flowcopter's innovative propulsion technologies creates a powerful platform for future growth and capability development.
Karl Brew, Director of TEKEVER UK, added: "As demand increases for autonomous systems capable of operating further, carrying more, and delivering greater mission flexibility, the combined capabilities strengthen our ability to address evolving requirements across both governmental and commercial sectors."
