AgEagle Aerial Systems, operating as EagleNXT, introduced the Altum-PT Pro sensor on September 3, 2026. The unveiling occurred at the Commercial UAV Expo in Las Vegas, according to a report by Dronelife.

The new sensor is described as the flagship of the MicaSense portfolio. It integrates a FLIR Boson 640R radiometric thermal core with multispectral and panchromatic capabilities. This allows it to capture synchronized data across all these bands in a single payload. The design includes firmware updates and internal hardware improvements over the base Altum-PT model.

Bill Irby, CEO of EagleNXT, stated that customer feedback drove the development. "Users want the integrated thermal capability of the Altum-PT and also need science-grade thermal performance," Irby said. The company claims the sensor delivers higher-resolution radiometric thermal data while maintaining the multispectral and panchromatic performance relied on by researchers.

Technical Specifications and Integration

The Altum-PT Pro pixel-aligns its various sensors. This alignment is intended to simplify data processing and improve correlation between the spectral and thermal data layers. It retains MicaSense's established radiometric calibration and DLS2 illumination correction systems, ensuring compatibility with existing research pipelines.

Multiple integration options are supported for platform compatibility. These include Ethernet, MAVLink serial, PWM triggering, and HTTP APIs. The sensor is designed for use on multirotor and VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) drone platforms suited for long-endurance mapping missions.

Target Applications and Markets

EagleNXT outlines several key use cases for the Altum-PT Pro. These include crop analysis, environmental monitoring, and identifying hotspots on solar farms for maintenance. Other applications are industrial inspections, gathering temperature data, and developing precise maps.

"The Altum-PT Pro will take detailed color-spectrum, black-and-white, and higher-resolution heat images together in one flight," Irby explained. He said this provides researchers with quick, pinpointed outputs specific to their objectives.

The primary target markets are drone original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and system integrators who build specialized aerial mapping systems. The sensor also aims to meet demand for premium multi-sensor platforms while reinforcing scientifically validated multispectral sensing.

Availability and Company Credentials

U.S. Customers can order the Altum-PT Pro immediately. International availability is scheduled to begin in November 2026.

The company notes its sensors integrate with more than 150 different drone models. EagleNXT technology has been referenced in over 100 research publications. The company's platforms hold several regulatory certifications, including FAA approvals for Operations Over People and Beyond Visual Line of Sight. They also possess EASA C2 certification in Europe and are included on the U.S. Department of Defense's Blue UAS list.
