High Great launches EMO Mini, 249-g drone for shows

High Great Innovation, a Shenzhen-based Chinese drone manufacturer, has announced the EMO Mini, a lightweight drone designed for large-scale aerial light shows.

Integrated Workflow and Weight Advantage

The aircraft weighs 249 grams, making it the lightest outdoor formation drone in its class. The company lists a price of $750 per unit, but only for bulk orders of 2,100 drones, indicating a focus on commercial fleets.

The EMO Mini’s key advantage is its integrated workflow. Operators can store, charge, and launch the drone directly from its carrying case, eliminating the need to transport separate batteries and charging equipment. High Great claims the integrated case can reduce transportation and storage space by up to 70%, speeding up show set-up and teardown.

Because the drone weighs below the 250-gram threshold used by many aviation authorities, it may simplify transportation and regulatory compliance in several markets.

However, prospective US buyers should keep expectations in check. Since High Great is a foreign manufacturer, it is unclear whether the EMO Mini has obtained the FCC authorizations and other approvals typically required before being widely marketed or sold in the United States.

Performance and Reliability Features

The EMO Mini is engineered for repeated outdoor performances. It can run multiple shows with minimal downtime between flights. A minimum spacing of 0.8 meters between drones allows tighter formations and more intricate aerial animations.

Dual-vision positioning and full-band RTK navigation keep each aircraft precisely aligned throughout the performance. Outdoor reliability is a priority. The drone carries an IP53 rating for dust and light rain resistance and includes a self-heating system for colder conditions.

Its 360-degree dual-light system delivers vivid full-color visuals visible from multiple viewing angles.

Market Position and Regulatory Outlook

High Great is not new to the drone entertainment business. The company claims to have completed more than 30,000 drone shows across 300-plus cities, earning eight Guinness World Records. Its fleets have appeared at major global events, including the Paris Olympics, Osaka Expo, and the Beijing Winter Olympics.

As demand for synchronized drone light shows grows worldwide, High Great believes that faster deployment and greater portability could become as important as brighter, more elaborate displays.
