DroneShield has announced a fourth-quarter software release for its counter-unmanned aircraft systems. The update improves drone detection, identification, tracking, and defeat capabilities with specific gains in thermal and fixed-wing drone recognition.

Thermal camera classification accuracy improves by 44%. Target detection in standard video is also improved. For fixed-wing drones, identification precision increased by 18% and recall by 8%.

Integrated sensing enables passive detection and visual confirmation

Radio-frequency sensors and compatible optical cameras now work together as a fully passive detection solution. With compatible Bosch Starlight cameras, operators can direct cameras toward an RF detection source and lock on to track drones. This allows for visual confirmation without emitting signals.

The update also introduces a feature that flags unfamiliar radio-frequency signals with drone-like characteristics. These signals are sent to the DroneSentry-C2 dashboard. Operators can investigate emerging threats sooner and filter records by frequency range.

Update improves coordination, targeting, and system interoperability

Connected DroneSentry-X Mk2 units can share detections to coordinate disruption. When one unit detects a threat, the information is shared across the network for a coordinated response.

Jamming can be focused on frequencies used by specific drones. This concentrates the effect and reduces interference with nearby systems. The release also simplifies user interface and connectivity configuration for simpler setup. It supports interoperability with Sentrycs firmware 6.7.1 for layered deployments.

Release delivered via subscription extends value of existing fielded equipment

The software update is available through DroneShield’s Mission Ready Services subscription. This model allows customers to gain greater capability from existing compatible equipment without new hardware investment. Mission Ready Services delivers ongoing capability improvements across more than 4,200 software-enabled devices in the field.

Angus Bean, Chief Executive Officer of DroneShield, emphasized the need for continuous updates. "Drone threats change constantly, and counter-drone capability has to keep pace long after it is deployed," he said. Bean added that the release gives operators better information and a more focused response as an update to fielded systems.

DroneSentry-C2 reinforced as central decision layer

The release reinforces DroneSentry-C2 as the decision layer connecting sensors, intelligence, and response across DroneShield deployments. DroneShield, a global leader in AI-powered counter-drone technology, is listed on the ASX under the ticker DRO.

The DroneSentry-C2 software release is scheduled to become available on 3 November 2026.
