DJI Mimo app update adds automatic transfers
DJI has updated its Mimo companion app with features for Osmo camera users, including automatic media transfer for the Osmo Pocket 4P and easier preset

DJI has released version 2.11.2 of its free DJI Mimo companion app. The update introduces several workflow improvements for users of Osmo Pocket, Osmo Mobile, and other DJI handheld cameras, according to a report from DroneDJ.
The most significant convenience upgrade targets Osmo Pocket 4P owners. The camera can now automatically and silently transfer photos and videos to a paired smartphone once it is powered off. This eliminates the need for manual copying after every shoot, providing an automatic backup for creators who film throughout the day.
Enhanced Live Photo Features
For iPhone users, the Mimo app now supports 4K Ultra HD Live Photos when using an Osmo Mobile gimbal. This feature allows for higher-quality Live Photos with more detail and motion. It currently works on iPhone 14 models and newer, offering an upgrade for users who rely on their smartphones as a primary camera.
The app also gains a new Cinematic Slow-Mo Live Photos feature. Users can export compatible videos, recorded at 48 frames per second or higher, as dramatic slow-motion Live Photos with a single tap. This provides another method for creating dynamic content that stands out from a traditional still image.
Collaboration and Workflow Tools
A new Preset Sharing & Importing feature aims to simplify collaborative editing. Users can generate a share code for their custom editing presets. Friends, teammates, or social media collaborators can then apply the exact same look without manually recreating every adjustment.
While not revolutionary, these additions address common creator pain points. Automatic transfers save time. Preset sharing simplify teamwork. Live Photo enhancements offer more creative flexibility. All improvements are delivered through software, requiring no new hardware purchase.
Context of the Osmo 360 II Launch
The Mimo update's timing coincides with DJI's recent expansion of its camera lineup. The company launched the Osmo 360 II, its second-generation 360-degree camera. The new model relies heavily on the DJI Mimo app for setup, firmware updates, file transfers, reframing, and editing.
The Osmo 360 II includes several upgraded specifications over its predecessor.
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Native Video Resolution | 8K |
| Maximum Frame Rate | 60 fps |
| 360-Degree Photos | 120MP |
| Built-in Storage | 105GB |
| Wireless Connectivity | Wi-Fi 6, NFC pairing |
| Other Improvements | Enhanced low-light performance, replaceable lenses, improved dynamic range |
However, the report states the Osmo 360 II is unlikely to receive an official US launch. Due to the ongoing FCC block on new DJI products, the camera is expected to miss the US market despite rolling out globally. This regulatory standoff has already prevented several recent DJI products from being sold through official US channels.
Despite this market restriction, the latest Mimo app update benefits a broad existing user base. Millions of current Osmo device owners can immediately use the new workflow improvements. This reinforces DJI's strategy of continuously evolving its software ecosystem alongside its hardware releases.
