Agri Spray Drones has announced a major strategic shift from being a spray drone distributor to becoming a full-scale agricultural drone manufacturer and technology company. The firm plans to use its field experience to guide in-house product development, quality control, and autonomous systems, with manufacturing operations based in the United States.
According to a company press release, its next spray drone platform is already in production. Further product details are scheduled for release later this year.
From Distributor to Developer
The company stated that its years of direct support for operators, dealers, and service providers will directly inform future products. Founder and CEO Taylor Moreland explained the rationale. "We have spent years training operators, dealers, and service providers, supporting them through spray season and learning what works in the field and what creates unnecessary friction," Moreland said. "Now, we’re using those lessons to help shape the products, software and autonomous systems our customers will depend on next."
Agri Spray Drones currently maintains a nationwide dealer network, training programs, technical support, and a parts inventory. The company argues that bringing product development in-house will allow operator feedback to reach engineering teams more directly and swiftly.
A Three-Year U.S. Manufacturing Plan
Agri Spray Drones outlined a phased, three-year roadmap to establish U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities. The plan details specific goals for each year through 2028.
| Year | Planned Manufacturing & Sourcing Milestones |
|---|---|
| 2026 | U.S.-based quality control, small-batch assembly, selected U.S.-designed components, U.S.-based servers. |
| 2027 | Full-scale assembly, U.S.-managed software, a new U.S.-designed aircraft frame, additional U.S.-made electronics, increased domestic component sourcing. |
| 2028 | Expanded U.S. Sourcing of critical components, with a target of 65% of the drone’s total cost produced domestically. |
Moreland emphasized the plan is a progressive journey. "We’re not asking anyone to confuse the first step with the finish line," he stated. "We’ll be clear about where we are today and where we’re headed next."
New Spray Drone Platform in Production
The company confirmed its next-generation spray drone platform is now in production. Described as a transitional product bridging its distributor past and its manufacturing future, the aircraft incorporates improvements drawn from operational experience.
Reported enhancements include more accurate application performance, increased application efficiency, more strong power connectivity, improved component durability, and more intuitive serviceability. Agri Spray Drones has not yet released additional specifications or product details for the new platform.
Developing Autonomous Farm Operations
The company's technology strategy looks beyond individual drones toward complete autonomous systems. Agri Spray Drones is developing a more autonomous spray operation designed to reduce repetitive tasks between flights.
A key component is its existing Drone Dock, which automates the refill process. The company claims this system reduces operator exposure to chemicals while boosting operational efficiency. "The future isn’t one autonomous drone. It’s an autonomous operation," Moreland concluded.
The transition will combine the expansion of U.S. Manufacturing with ongoing development of software and spray drone technologies. More information about the new aircraft is expected before the end of the year.
