DJI ends support for original Osmo Action
DJI will end all support for its first Osmo Action camera on November 2, 2026, retiring the 2019 model with a front screen.

DJI will stop supporting its original Osmo Action camera this November. The company announced it will suspend all product inquiries, technical support, and repair services for the camera and its accessories beginning November 2, 2026.
This move comes nearly five years after production of the camera ended in November 2021. According to a support notice from DJI, every generation of electronics has a fixed product lifecycle as technology and user needs evolve. The company says it periodically reallocates resources toward newer products and technologies.
A Pioneering Design
Launched in 2019, the original Osmo Action challenged the action camera market with a key innovation. It was the first mainstream action camera to include a front-facing color display, allowing users to easily frame themselves without external monitors or smartphone apps. This dual-screen design was a major selling point for vloggers and creators.
The camera also introduced DJI's RockSteady electronic image stabilization. It could record 4K video at up to 60 frames per second, featured HDR recording and voice control, and was waterproof down to 11 meters without an additional housing. These features helped establish DJI as a serious competitor in the space.
The Modern Successor
DJI's action camera lineup has advanced significantly since the first model. The current flagship is the Osmo Action 6. DJI recently demonstrated its ruggedness in an extreme test. Last month, twelve unmodified Osmo Action 6 cameras were mounted onto a LandSpace reusable Zhuque-3 rocket.
They became the first consumer action cameras to capture first-person footage throughout an entire rocket launch, spaceflight, and recovery. DJI states the cameras endured reentry surface temperatures approaching 500 degrees Celsius while continuing to record. The same mission also featured the upcoming Osmo 360 II camera capturing panoramic launch footage.
The Osmo Action 6 includes several major upgrades over the original model. A comparison of key features from the source is shown below.

What End of Support Means
For owners of the original Osmo Action, the November deadline does not render the camera useless. The device will continue to function normally if it remains in working order. However, DJI will no longer provide repairs or technical assistance for any hardware issues that arise after support ends.
The company encourages customers using discontinued devices to upgrade to continue receiving customer service and benefit from the latest features. The dramatic evolution of the product line, underscored by the spaceflight test, provides a clear contrast between the pioneering model and its modern successor.
